What is your Purpose?

I’ve been a witness to a beautiful event; one that I know could only be ordained by God.  I know a family of siblings–three sisters and one brother. The brother is mute, deaf and partially blind, so his ability to communicate is extremely limited.  Don’t get me wrong, I was there when he quite successfully and in his own way “cussed” a bunch of us out when we tried to trick him into getting a shot at People’s Clinic.  While it may have been jibberish, we felt the sting of his disdain.

Nevertheless, I want to get to his purpose, for it is clear that he has one, though many may have thought otherwise.  He is currently fighting for his life in a Critical Care unit of a hospital with his organs failing, double pneumonia, clogged arteries and breathing only by the assistance of a ventilator.  The beautiful part is that his three sisters have been estranged for nearly 20 years (each having their own reason for not communicating with the others).  However, they came together for their brother.  They aired their differences and have reconciled for themselves.  Therein, in my humble opinion, lies their brother’s purpose.

This sweet, sweet man, whom we thought really brought nothing to this world but a beautiful smile and disposition has managed to do what God-fearing, church-attending family members were unable to accomplish–he brought his family back together.

Thanks be to God!
