I'd love to hear what your research turns up. I'm a firm believer that, in the future, we will need to embrace diversity in the Church like we never have before. We can't go back to the old ethnic parish model -- we need to find ways to accommodating a variety of cultural expressions of the faith without devolving into a crass pluralism and without watering down the Gospel. It's an exciting time to be Catholic!

Thanks for the food for thought. It is good food. Juicy, rich food in fact. But where are the choice wines?

There are Polish Dominican sisters in the US. Who knew? A recent Aquinas graduate joined them about a year ago. The priests in and around Chicago do a great deal to support these sisters, as do the sisters with their prayers for the works of their Dominican brothers.

I spent seven years in a Holy Cross Seminary and graduated from Notre Dame. My feeling is that Father Cleary and Father Jenkins are so disconnected from the real world that they cannot see the damage to the Catholic faith they are causing. Father Cleary's statements are actually pathetic: he sees the evil of Obama's policies but refuses to vote; and he congratulates Obama's upcoming doctorate, writing an unending letter but cannot make the obvious decision to appose his invitation. Father Cleary and Father Jenkins need to step outside where the rest of the world lives and show a spark of spiritual leadership rather than writing long letters of theology. I want to see deeds, not empty words.

As you say...

"we must take the empty tabernacle of the suffering world… and turn it into the empty tomb of the Resurrected Christ"

"will we restore the truth of God’s mercy to the empty tabernacles of the hearts of men and women?"

"Many who suffer from their own sins are not in need of judgment... they are looking for someone to tell them that truly they can be forgiven"

"The empty world has already been conquered and is even now being filled with the mercy of God"

Amen +

A blessed Easter season to you, Br. Thomas :) !
